Enterprise Product Partners and Enbridge Inc. have completed the expansion of the 500-mile Seaway oil pipeline from Cushing, Okla. to the Gulf Coast, according to a report in today's Wall Street Journal. The expansion, which increased Seaway's capacity to 400,000 barrels of crude a day from 150,000 barrels, is expected to help improve the flow of crude from the overstocked Cushing hub. A proposed pipeline parallel to the existing right of way from Cushing to the Gulf Coast would bring Seaway's total capacity to 850,000 barrels a day by mid-2014, according to the WSJ report, which added that analysts believe the expansions may help reduce the price gap between West Texas Intermediate and the European benchmark Brent crude.
