PSC Questions Wind Turbine Locations

The Associated Press is reporting today that the North Dakota Public Service Commission has agreed to reconsider its decision regarding the locations of six wind turbines proposed by Just Wind, the developer of a 368-megawatt wind farm planned for Logan County. The PSC originally rejected the locations on the basis of their proximity to nearby houses when approval was granted for the project in April. Just Wind appealed that decision, and the PSC has agreed to reconsider its decision at a meeting to be held next month.

Just Wind plans to begin construction on the Logan Country wind farm next spring. The project is one of several the company hopes to complete in the state. Its most ambitious project is the 800-megawatt wind farm it plans to build near Strasburg in Emmons County. According to the company's web site, the company applied for approval to the PSC in December 2008 and has nearly 84,000 acres are under lease agreement for the project. The company states that related meteorological and biological studies are in process.
