The Bismarck media are buzzing today with rumors of a wind turbine plant coming to town. Here's what the official city website said regarding the matter...
Early this afternoon the North Dakota Congressional Delegation announced that Schuff Steel Company of Phoenix, Arizona, had been awarded $7,073,316 in tax credits. These credits are derived from the federal economic recovery package. They could be used in conjunction with a wind tower turbine manufacturing facility in Bismarck.
This tax credit award is one ingredient in the possible development of a wind tower plant but it is by no means the only component. Schuff Steel has inquired about the availability of these credits but has made no commitment to build a plant in Bismarck. There are many other steps to complete before a decision to build a plant can be reached. “We remain in contact with the company and look forward to further discussion with them regarding this project,” said Bill Wocken, Bismarck City Administrator.
