Another wind project is planned to be operational in North Dakota by the end of 2010. It’ll be located near Baldwin, about 12 miles north of Bismarck, adjacent to two already operating wind projects. The project will be built, owned and operated by NextEra Energy Resources, Juno Beach, Fla. The electricity produced will be purchased by Bismarck-based Basin Electric and incorporated with its other generating resources.
Late last week, officials from Basin Electric and NextEra Energy Resources signed a 30-year contract whereby Basin Electric will purchase 100 megawatts of electricity from this new project. NextEra Energy Resources will construct, own and operate it. The project will have up to 68 turbines, each with a generating capacity of up to 1.6 megawatts. The project is planned to be operating by the end of the year.
