North Dakota's newest wind farm, the 149.1-megawatt Rugby Wind Power Project, received a special dedication ceremony yesterday.
The 71-turbine facility is now up and running in Pierce County, generating enough power to supply up to 45,000 homes with renewable electricity.
Developed by Oregon-based Iberdrola Renewables, the wind farm uses Suzlon S88-2.1MW wind turbines, with 40MW of the wind farm's power output going to Missouri River Energy Services, a South Dakota organization of member communities throughout the region.
The Rugby wind farm supported 250 jobs during its construction by Fargo-based Wanzek Construction, Inc.
Now operational, it has 17 full-time staff based on site.
