BLM Lease Sale Set for December 9

The Bureau of Land Management office in Billings has announced that a competitive oil and gas lease sale is scheduled to be held on December 9, 2010. Included in the sale are eight parcels totaling 1837.12 acres in North Dakota along with 88 parcels within the boundaries of the Dakota Prairie Grasslands based on recommendations from the US Forest Service.

According to the BLM, the sales will be made "with the proposed stipulations as identified in the respective EAs", a reference to the environmental assessments completed as a result of protests over greenhouse gas emissions that resulted in a postponement of the sale scheduled for March. A copy of the environmental assessment for North Dakota and other details pertaining to the upcoming sale are available here.
