DOE Supports Energy Storage Project
As more renewable energy goes online, the search for effective energy storage technology is accelerating. Such technology will be essential for the progress of the wind energy industry in North Dakota. Today, Energy Secretary Steven Chu today announced the finalization of a $17.1 million loan guarante for the Advanced Energy Storage (AES) Westover facility in New York State. The loan guarantee will support the construction of a 20 megawatt (MW) energy storage system using advanced lithium-ion batteries. The AES project, located in Johnson City, New York, will help provide a more stable and efficient electrical grid for the state's high-voltage transmission network. Read more...
