U.S. Goes to WTO Over China Wind Aid

The Obama administration has accused China of illegally subsidizing its wind energy industry in an action brought before the World Trade Organization (WTO) today, according to an article in the New York Times. The complaint alleges that China has established a special fund that awards grants to domestic manufacturers makers of wind power equipment.  According to the complaint, the subsidies violate WTO rules because the grants appear to require manufacturers to use components made in China rather than imported parts.
