Enbridge Phasing Out Sour Crude

According to an AP report today, Calgary, Alberta-based Enbridge Inc. is eliminating shipments of "sour" crude on its pipelines in North Dakota. Sour crude is oil with a high sulfur content that makes it  more difficult to refine than "sweet" crude -- oil with little or no sulphur content. Most sour crude in the state comes from older, low-producing wells near the Canadian border. Enbridge reportedly said the move will allow the company to more than double  the amount of sweet crude it will be able to ship from the Bakken and Three Forks formations by early 2013.
