The North Dakota Industrial Commission reportedly has decided to send letters to Minnesota lawmakers requesting the repeal of Minnesota's restrictions on imported electricity. Under a law passed in 2007, Minnesota utilities are prohibited from importing power from new plants that burn coal. The law affects an electric and steam plant being built near Spiritwood, N.D. by Great River Energy. Minnesota, the largest customer for North Dakota-produced electricity, has rejected similar appeals in the past.
