A new study done at Cornell University concludes that natural gas produced with hydraulic fracturing ("fracking") contributes to global warming at least as much as coal, according to a report out today on The Hill. The researchers say their findings show that fracking produces far more methane emissions than conventional gas production, which they say offsets the carbon advantage that shale gas has over coal when they’re burned for energy.
