New Wind Farm Approved

A site plan for a proposed 150-megawatt wind energy facility in north-central North Dakota was approved yesterday by the North Dakota Public Service Commission. The project, called Border Winds, is being developed by Sequoia Energy U.S. Inc., a unit of Winnipeg-based Sequoia Energy, which first announced the project three years ago. The project includes 66 2.3-megawatt wind turbines and will cover over 52 square miles of land in Rolette County near the Manitoba border.  The company has said it plans to begin construction this summer and finish within a year.
