• Orascom Construction Industries, Egypt's largest company, has announced plans to build a $1.4 billion fertilizer plant in southeast Iowa. The plant will use natural gas to create the reaction between nitrogen and hydrogen that is the basis of ammonia fertilizer. Iowa is offering at least $100 million in incentives to secure the project, which will provide 165 permanent jobs after start-up, along with 2,500 during the construction. Fertilizer has been mentioned by North Dakota officials as a possible use of natural gas produced in the Williston Basin. Read more...
• Delta Airlines reportedly is considering a plan to supply its east coast refinery with crude oil from the Bakken play. According to a news report out today, Delta bought the refinery earlier this year to cut its fuel expenses, but still imports most of its crude from overseas. Delta officials are quoted as saying their cost savings would be increased by using domestic crude from the Bakken, which would be shipped in by train. Read more...
• Montana...Oil and gas production revenue for the first quarter of fiscal year 2013 is down slightly from a year ago, according to Department of Revenue statistics. The total collection came in at $51.88 million with a county distribution at $23.84 million compared to $54.35 million with a county distribution of $24.93 million for the same period last year.
