The Rules Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives reportedly has tossed out two wind tax credit amendments that sponsors wanted attached to a bill aimed at stripping the federal government's authority to regulate greenhouse-gas emissions. The amendments would have extended the wind tax credit through 2016. A one-year extension of the production tax credit for wind attached to a separate tax bill has passed the Senate Finance Committee and is awaiting action by the full Senate. No date has been set for a vote, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) reportedly has said on several occasions that he wants to get the bill passed before the current Senate session adjourns.
