Enbridge Energy reportedly has filed plans with Minnesota state regulators to increase the capacity of its Alberta Clipper pipeline by 27 percent. The 36-inch pipeline carries crude produced in western Canada and North Dakota from Hardisty, Alberta though northern Minnesota to Superior, Wis. The $40 million upgrade will increase the capacity from 450,000 barrels per day to 570,000, according to a StarTribune article published yesterday. In May, Enbridge announced a total of $600 million in pipeline upgrades in the United States and Canada to carry more oil to terminals in Wisconsin and Illinois. Read more
