Air Pollutants Found Near Colorado Gas Drilling Sites

A new study published in the journal Human and Ecological Risk Assessment reportedly identified a set of chemicals called non-methane hydrocarbons in the air near gas drilling sites in Colorado that appear to be unrelated to fracking. The authors concluded the source of the pollutants is likely a mix of the raw gas vented from the wells and the emissions from industrial equipment used during the gas production process. However, because of limitations on funding and access to drilling sites, the study doesn't definitively link the gas fields to the air pollutants. Read more
