Analyst Predicts More Delays for Keystone Approval

Reuters reported last week that a leading energy analyst predicts environmental groups will push for public hearings on the U.S. State Department's new Keystone XL environmental impact statement and request an Environmental Protection Agency review of the study, which is expected to be released in the coming weeks. The State Department has said it expects to make its decision regarding the $5.3 billion Canada-to-Nebraska pipeline by the end of March, assuming Nebraska approves a new route that avoids an environmentally sensitive region in the state. The analyst report suggests, however, that the anticipated moves by environmentalists may delay the decision until summer. More
