The Allure of Manure
A potential source of alternative energy that's widely available in North Dakota is the basis of a project to be launched this fall in the People's Republic of China. Using four biogas turbines supplied by General Electric Co., the 250,000-head Liaoning Huishan Cow Farm in Shenyang plans to reduce huge piles of dung into 38,000 megawatt-hours of power annually, enough to meet the average demand of about 15,000 Chinese residents.
