Climate Change and Wind Speed

A researcher at the University of Texas says current climate change patterns may reduce wind speeds and therefore make wind energy less efficient. According to Diandong Ren, the change in temperature difference between the  mid-latitudes of the earth (the location of the U.S., Europe and most of China) and the gradually warming polar regions will mean lighter winds since strong winds require a high temperature contrast between the two areas.  Read more...
