Delay Likely for New Power Plant Emissions Rule

According to an article in today's Washington Post, the Obama administration is likely to revise its proposal  announced nearly a year ago to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from new power plants. Those who believe a revision is under consideration say the purpose would be to strengthen the proposal to withstand legal challenges and to possibly set a separate standard for coal-powered plants. The proposal as it now stands would would require any new power plant to emit no more than 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide per megawatt hour of electricity produced. The rule initially was supposed to be finalized by April 13,  but that deadline is likely to be missed, according to the Washington Post article.  Read more
