The Western Organization of Resource Councils (WORC) has released a report that urges petroleum-producing states to address water issues related to hydraulic fracturing. The report estimates that nearly 87 billion to 174 billion gallons of water were used for fracking purposes in the U.S. last year and claims that this level cannot be sustained. Among the recommendations WORC proposed is a stronger emphasis on recycling of fracking waste water. Read more
