Stimulus Bill Signed Today May Help Fund North Dakota Energy Projects

Key provisions include...
  • $6 billion for loans for renewable energy power generation and transmission projects.
  • $11 billion to modernize the nation's electrical transmission network, which includes funding for building new power lines "to transmit clean, renewable energy from sources throughout the nation."
  • $3.4 billion for carbon capture and sequestration technology demonstration projects.
  • extends the federal renewable energy production tax credit, payable over a 10-year period, to 2013 for wind facilities and to 2013 for qualifying facilities that generate electricity from biomass, geothermal, hydropower, landfill gas and ocean currents.
  • authorizes $1.6 billion in new clean energy bonds to finance facilities that generate electricity from wind, biomass, geothermal, hydropower, landfill gas, ocean currents and trash burning.
