The North Dakota Public Service Commission plans to hold two public meetings on June 28 to discuss a proposed coal mine in western Stark County. The meetings will held on the campus of Dickinson State University. A permit for the mine is being sought by a subsidiary of Texas-based Great Northern Project Development. The company previously filed permit applications in March 2010 and November 2010. Both were rejected due to numerous deficiencies. The PSC accepted the current application in January.
